Jumbangla Desk: Breeders Association of Bangladesh President Mahbubur Rahman said that some of the leading egg producers have taken the initiative to supply two million eggs under the condition that the traders of Tejgaon and Kaptan Bazar in the capital will ensure the sale at 12 taka at the consumer level.

They will deliver 20 lakh eggs on Wednesday (October 16) night itself. The institutions will deliver these eggs to the consumers on their own initiative without any middlemen. Each egg will be sold at 10 taka 91 paise. There is also a plan to inaugurate this program of selling eggs at the price fixed by the government in the presence of the Chairman of Consumer Affairs Department in Kaptan Bazar.
Mahbubur Rahman said that this decision was taken at a meeting of Bangladesh Poultry Industries Coordination Committee or BPICC, which consists of entrepreneurs from all parties related to poultry industry.
Before this, a meeting was held on the price and supply of eggs at the office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by egg producers, wholesalers and stakeholders associated with supply.
In that meeting, it was decided that from now on, large egg producing companies and small farmers will send eggs directly to the wholesale hatchery at the price set by the government. There will be no middlemen in between.
And the Directorate of Agriculture Marketing has recently fixed the reasonable price of eggs. The price of each egg is fixed at 10 taka 58 paisa at the production stage, 11 taka 01 paisa at the wholesale stage and 11 taka 87 paisa at the retail stage (142 taka 44 paisa per dozen).

Confirming the matter, it was informed by the breeders association that some big producers will supply 10 lakh eggs to Kaptan Bazar and 10 lakh eggs to Tejgaon. Among them are some of the leading egg producers including Kazi Farms, Paragon Poultry, People's Poultry, Diamond Egg, Narish Poultry, Rana Feed.
