Jumbangla Desk: The interim government is canceling eight national days, including the historic March 7, August 15, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's death anniversary and National Mourning Day.
The information was reported on the verified Facebook page of the Chief Advisor to this government on Wednesday (October 16).
Netizens are divided after this decision. Popular actress, singer and producer Meher Afroz Shaon clarified her position on this issue.
Shaun posted a status on his verified Facebook account. There he wrote, 'The historic March 7 as a national day was canceled today! I, Meher Afroz Shaon, as a common citizen of Bangladesh strongly protested against this decision of the interim government. After a few days, it will be seen that March 26 is not the Independence Day, July 36 may be celebrated as the new Independence Day!
Shawn also wrote, "If I have to be called a 'broker' to speak for March 7, I'm a broker." I am the agent of the liberation war of Bangladesh, the agent of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of independence.
Meanwhile, as soon as the decision was heard in the media, the legendary actor, director, producer and freedom fighter Masud Parvez Sohail Rana, Kazi Nowshaba Ahmed, Noona Afroz and many others took a stand against him.
Incidentally, the Awami League debated Bangabandhu in a press conference at the Secretariat on Wednesday (October 16). Do you think he is the 'father of the nation'? Adviser Nahid Islam said, 'Awami League was in power as a fascist party. They were in power by disenfranchising people and by murdering them and killing them. So who called him the father of the nation, they declared any day as national day, it will not continue in new Bangladesh. We want to restructure Bangladesh. As a result, we have to bring a new perspective to history.'
Referring to the exclusion of March 7 from the list of national days, Nahid said, 'March 7 is important, but it should not be a national day. Awami League has wasted many days.'
Nahid said, "Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is certainly not the father of the nation. Many have roles, struggles in this terrain. History is versatile. Awami League denied Maulana Bhasani's contribution. So now is the time to remember everyone's role.'
Stating that a national day is being established with priority on August 5, Nahid said, 'Some day may be established as the importance of the July coup. For now, a national day is being established with August 5 as the priority. Many decisions have to be made in new Bangladesh. Bureaucracy cannot be completely abolished. The administration is being overhauled. Complaints can be made against anyone. So the government is seriously investigating. The task of the interim government is to give importance to everyone's voice. The government is working with the support of the people.
