After the meeting with the new judges appointed to the tribunal last Tuesday (15 October), the chief prosecutor of the tribunal said. Tajul Islam told reporters this information.

At that time, Tajul Islam said, on Wednesday (October 16) the justices will be welcomed in the courtroom of the tribunal. Then on Thursday (October 17), the chairman of the tribunal, Justice Md. A three-judge bench headed by Ghulam Mortuza Majumdar will sit in the Ejalas. The trial will start from that day.

He also said that on Thursday (October 17) some necessary applications will be made by the prosecution.

It is known that the tribunal will sit at 10:30 am today. In the same tribunal where the 71st crimes against humanity were tried, the trial of the 24th repression and massacres will begin. Where the main accused is former Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina and his associates.


Although the renovation of the main building is nearing completion, the tribunal will sit in Tinshed's ajlas for the time being. So far 56 complaints have been submitted to the investigating agency and the prosecution. Which are in the process of charge framing. There is also an opportunity to appoint a lawyer from abroad to support the defense of the accused.

Meanwhile, the tribunal's new prosecution team is hopeful of completing a controversy-free trial at the earliest. But, the extent to which the proposed amendments to witness protection, victim compensation laws and the jurisdiction to punish political parties will ensure international standards will be understood after the promulgation of the ordinance.

Incidentally, the interim government decided to try the case filed in the case of the genocide that took place in July and August centered on the anti-discrimination student movement in the International Criminal Tribunal. As part of this, new prosecution teams and investigation agencies have been formed.

Eight national days including the historic March 7 are cancelled
