He announced his resignation on Wednesday (October 16) night. At this time, he also asked for prayers from everyone due to his illness.


Ashraful Islam said, 'I am a heart patient. I had a bypass surgery a few days ago. I am very sick now due to long illness. I am praying for everyone. I was the General Secretary of Union Awami League. I voluntarily resigned from Awami League. From now on I have no connection with Awami League.'


He also said, 'I resigned from the organization forever. I quit politics. I will not go with any politics. I want to live a normal life. Praying for everyone who is still alive. I am a sick man, that I may be well.'

 

Ashraful Islam Ashraf is the former Chairman of Kumrabaria Union of Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila and General Secretary of Union Awami League.


He has several cases under his name including sabotage.
