International Desk: The United States has attacked five underground weapons depots in Yemen's Houthi-controlled areas. On Wednesday (October 16), US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin gave this information in a statement.

Lloyd Austin said US forces have targeted several underground facilities of the Houthis. Various types of weapons were stored there. These weapons have been used by Houthi fighters to target civilian and military ships in the region.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on social media that they were assessing the extent of the damage caused by Wednesday's attack. However, no civilian casualties were reported in their attack.

Earlier this month, the US military carried out 15 strikes on targets linked to Iran-backed Houthi fighters in Yemen. Local residents then reported explosions at a military post and an airport.

Yemen's Houthi fighters have carried out nearly 100 attacks on ships sailing through the Red Sea since last November. They say they are doing so as part of a show of solidarity with Palestinians amid Israel's long-running war in Gaza. The Houthi attack sank two ships, captured one ship and killed at least four sailors.
