According to a report by Arab News, the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification, a government agency in Saudi Arabia, said that more than 9.5 million trees have been planted since the launch of the Green Initiative in 2021.

On Wednesday (October 16) Arab News quoted the Saudi Press Agency as saying that the Saudi government took this initiative to plant trees based on a partnership with some private non-profit organizations.

Through this, trees have been planted in 111,000 hectares of fallow land in the country in just three years . As a result, protection of another 4.3 lakh hectares of land has been ensured.

Nature has also been helpful in the Saudi government's tree planting initiative. Apart from the plantation program, new trees are growing naturally in different parts of the country. So far 7.1 million cases of natural regrowth have been recorded. Thus the amount of green covered land is increasing at a significant rate.

121 partners from different sectors of Saudi Arabia have played a supporting role in this forestry project of the government. This combined effort is realizing the country's Green Initiative and national goals related to Vision 2030.
