Jumbangla Desk: The current population of Bangladesh has exceeded 400 million, said Syed Muhammad Akhtar-e-Kamal, the spokesperson of the World Survey Organization. He said that the same calculation of population is being given in the last 27 years. Various NGOs are working behind it.

In a statement sent to the media on Wednesday (October 16), the World Survey Organization published this new figure of Bangladesh's population.

Akhtar E-Kamal said, until 1997, the population of Bangladesh was about 17 crores. Since then, the same population estimates have been given for the last 27 years. Then every government tried to hide the true number of population of Bangladesh. Various NGOs have worked alongside the government behind this. The real purpose of under-population was to prove that the funds provided by foreign donor agencies were properly used to reduce the country's population. The statement said that the actual population numbers were hidden because of fears that the population could not be reduced or that foreign funds would stop coming in if the population was too high.

We have calculated how many times the population has increased since independence - the total population during the Pakistan period was 9 crores. As of then, the population of Bangladesh was 5 crores. After the independence of Bangladesh, Sheikh Sahib said - the population of Bangladesh is seven and a half million. (According to the first census of independent Bangladesh in 1974 - the population of Bangladesh was 7.64 million.)

Then Ziaur Rahman (year 1977) after coming to power said - Bangladesh's population is 90 million. Then Ershad (year 1982) after sitting in power said - the population of Bangladesh is 11 crores. Then in 1991, after the BNP government came to power, it announced that the population of Bangladesh is 16 crore. Then in 1996, the Awami League government came to power and said that the population of Bangladesh is 17 crores. The population of the country has not increased from that 17 million?

He also said, if we look at the population growth rate of the then 27 years from 1969 to 1996, then we can see that it is more than three hundred times (3.26 times). Then the population growth rate should increase by 3/4 times in these 28 years from 1996 to 2024. Because the average life expectancy has increased. At present, it is less than two and a half times (2.35 times) if the population is 40 crores. So the reality is - currently the population of Bangladesh has exceeded 40 crores. And if we calculate one hundred and three times, the population is about 55 crores.

The statement also stated that the official information about the census is actually completely wrong and fraudulent.
