Jumbangla Desk: Peter Haas, the former US Ambassador to Dhaka, has returned to Dhaka with new duties. He has taken the responsibility of strategic advisor of US energy company Accelerate Energy. He came to Dhaka this week with that identity.

The delegation was led by Steven Kobos, CEO of Accelerate Energy and Chairman of the US-Bangladesh Business Council.

He ended his 33-year career in the US Foreign Service on September 27. Three days later, on October 1, he started a new career as a consultant to an energy company.

Professional diplomat Peter Haas came to Bangladesh as the US ambassador in 2022. Peter Haas left the Dhaka mission on July 22 and went to Washington during the students' movement. He retired from the US Foreign Service on September 27. Peter Haas later joined Accelerate Energy, a US multinational company that exports liquefied natural gas (LNG), as a strategic advisor.

Accelerate Energy has a floating terminal at Maheshkhali in Cox's Bazar to supply LNG to Bangladesh. Apart from this, they are planning to build another terminal. Apart from this, Accelerate has signed an agreement to supply LNG to Bangladesh from 2026.
