Jumbangla Desk: It has been two months since Bangladesh's former Prime Minister and Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina resigned and left for India. In the meantime, an arrest warrant has been issued against him in the country on Thursday. In such a context, his position has been confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs of India.
On Thursday (October 17), the spokesperson of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs Randhir Jaiswal told the media, 'I had already informed about Sheikh Hasina's stay in India that she came here on short notice. And he will stay here.'
Sheikh Hasina fled to India on August 5 in the face of the mass uprising of students.
In the press conference, a journalist asked Randhir Jaiswal, 'Today around noon, the International Criminal Tribunal of Bangladesh has issued an arrest warrant against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and others. He has been ordered to appear in court next month. What will be India's action in this regard? Besides, many reports are coming from Bangladesh that Sheikh Hasina is in India, or out of India and she may return to India. The Government of India issued him a travel document. So has Sheikh Hasina's status in India changed or not, or is she staying here at her request or at short notice? Or his same status still continues?
In response, the spokesperson said, 'We have received some recent reports about Bangladesh. But I have no information to comment on this. Regarding the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh's stay here, I have already informed that he has come here on short notice for security reasons and he is still here.'
