The Yatri Kalyan Samiti has presented this picture of accidents that happened in the last one month in a notification on Thursday.

According to the association, 978 people were injured in addition to 493 fatalities on the road. Out of total accidents, 192 i.e. 38.94 percent are motorcycle accidents. 195 people died and 149 people were injured.

Apart from this, 37 people died and four people were injured in 40 railway accidents in September. 19 people lost their lives, 56 people were injured and 47 people were missing in 14 accidents on the waterway.


554 people were killed and 1 thousand 38 people were injured in 547 accidents on roads, railways and waterways.

The accident monitoring cell of the organization working on passenger rights has prepared these statistics by analyzing the accident reports published in various media.

Division-wise, the highest number of road accidents occurred in Chittagong division that month. 109 people were killed and 251 injured in 116 accidents in this department.

Barisal division has the least number of road accidents. 23 people lost their lives and 48 people were injured in 26 road accidents there.

According to the notification of Jatri Kalyan Samiti, 3.65 percent of the total accidents in the country took place in Dhaka city and 1.41 percent in Chittagong city.

Absence of traffic police and highway police on roads and highways, absence of road signs or road markings and road lamps and construction defects of highways were cited by the association as the reasons for the accidents.

Also, to reduce road accidents, the organization has made 11 recommendations, including stopping the import and registration of small vehicles such as motorcycles and easy bikes, lighting for driving at night on highways, ensuring drivers' salaries and working hours.
