International Desk: There are rumors about the death of Yahya Sinwar, the new head of the Palestinian independence organization Hamas, in an attack by the occupying Israeli army. Several Israeli media reported on Thursday (October 17) that three people were killed in Hama, Israel, on Wednesday (October 16). One of them looks like Sinwar.
The armed group announced Yahya Sinwar as the new head of Hamas after its former head Ismail Haniya was assassinated in the Iranian capital, Tehran. Qatar-based media Al Jazeera reported that the body of the fighter, who looked like Sinwar, was taken to Israel and the body's DNA was tested.
However, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said they were investigating reports of Sinwar's death.
Israeli media Channel-12 reported that Israeli soldiers saw some Hamas fighters entering a building in Gaza's Rafah on Wednesday. Later, an attack was ordered there. After the attack, the soldiers went there and found the dead body of a warrior who looked like Sinwar. But they did not know whether Sinwar was in the building or not.
Meanwhile, members of Israel's security cabinet have been informed that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar is most likely dead, two officials with knowledge of the matter told the country's media. "We will reach out to every 'terrorist' and eliminate them," Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said in a post on X when news of the incident broke.
However, so far no response has been received from Hamas.
