Jumbangla Desk: To keep the price of eggs and chicken at a bearable level at the consumer level, the government had revised the prices in the second round. But this time too eggs and chickens are being sold at higher prices in different areas of the capital. Buyers complain about this, nothing is being sold at the price set by the government.

When asked to know the reason for selling at higher prices, the sellers said that we are not in a position to sell at the price set by the government. Go to the big dealers to know about it. We bought it from them at a higher price. Therefore, it has to be sold at a higher price in the retail market as well.

Kaptan Bazar, one of the biggest egg wholesalers in the capital yesterday, and Tejgaon Bazar at night, egg producers and related associations organized egg wholesale at the reasonable price (Tk. 10.58 at the producer level, Tk. 11.01 at the wholesale level and Tk. 11.87 at the retail level) at the wholesale level. A program of selling eggs directly from producers to dealers was inaugurated.

In the different markets of the capital, the price of eggs has decreased slightly compared to last week, but the chicken market is increasing. Due to the increase in prices, common people are in trouble. They expressed their disappointment because the market price did not match the price set by the government .

Yesterday, it was seen that eggs are sold at 170-175 rupees per dozen in the capital's Khilkhet market. The price of each egg starts from Tk 14.16 to Tk 14.58. However, according to the price set by the government, each egg was supposed to be sold at Tk 11.87. Accordingly, the dozen should be 142.44 taka.

The price of eggs is more in the neighborhood shops. Hali eggs are being sold at 60 taka in these shops. In this, the price of each piece of egg is 15 rupees. Apart from this, a dozen white eggs are 170 taka, and a dozen duck eggs are 220 taka. On the other hand, in the second round, the government has fixed the retail price of broiler chicken at Tk 179.59 and golden chicken at Tk 269.64.

But no broiler chicken was available in the market at this price. Shopkeepers are selling broiler chicken at Tk 200-210, golden chicken at Tk 290-300 and layer chicken at Tk 330 per kg. Last Tuesday, the government rescheduled the new price of chicken eggs at producer, wholesale and retail levels. Which is supposed to be effective across the country from next day Wednesday.
