8 deaths in dengue, 11 hospitalized

This information was informed in a press release about dengue sent from the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Department of Health on Thursday (October 17).

It said that in the last 24 hours, 121 people died of dengue in Barisal (outside the city), 148 people in Chittagong (outside the city), 184 people in Dhaka (outside the city), 242 people in Dhaka North City, 160 people in Dhaka South City, Khulna (outside the city). 143 people, 32 in Mymensingh (outside the city), 40 in Rajshahi (outside the city), 26 in Rangpur (outside the city) and four in Sylhet (outside the city).


As of October 17 this year, 47,500 people have been affected by dengue. Among them, 63.2 percent are men and 36.8 percent are women.

According to the notification, eight more people have died due to dengue in the last 24 hours and a total of 234 people have died of dengue this year.

From January 1 to December 31, 2023, a total of 1,705 people died due to dengue, while a total of 3,21,179 people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue.
