Jumbangla Desk: The principal of Nabiganj Government College in Habiganj has been accused of various irregularities and corruption. General students blocked Fazlur Rahman for about one and a half hours. After receiving the information, the police came and rescued him.

The students blocked the principal's office from 12 noon to 1:30 on Thursday (October 17).

Sajjadur Rahman, a protesting student, said that the principal is irregularly taking 500 taka per month for admission in honors first year and a total of 8 thousand taka along with six months advance salary. That is why many students are leaving without getting admission. Enraged by this, the general students blocked the principal.

Another student who is protesting. Jubel Ahmad said that the principal started various irregularities after joining the college. Before this, he took salary money from the students without receipt. When the news about this was published in the local media, he deposited the money in the bank. He also took salary from those who received stipend.

Nabiganj Government College Teachers Council General Secretary Lecturer. Amir Hossain said, 'Honors first year admission starts in January. At that time eight thousand rupees were taken along with admission fee, salary, examination fee. But the leaders of Chhatra Oikya Parishad did not accept this decision of Sir. So students union council and general students blocked the principal sir.

He also said, 'Students demand that other government colleges take 5 thousand 44 rupees. We have to take the same in college. The matter was not resolved as the student and sir were adamant in their positions. But there is a meeting to be held together again.'

Lecturer Rezaul Alam, former general secretary of the college's teachers' council, said that the salary was never taken from those who were getting stipends before joining the principal sir. But he joined and decided that those who will get stipend should also be paid. Principal take all the fish from the college pond. In this regard, Sir explained that the leaders and activists of Chhatra League have taken the fish. But the principal should have taken legal action against them. But for mysterious reasons he did not take any action.

When contacting Principal Md. Fazlur Rahman in this regard, he acknowledged the fact of being blocked and said that the admission of honors first year of 2023-24 session started in the month of January. Currently the last stage of admission is going on. The college became official last June. Eight thousand taka has been taken for admission in January. So 8 thousand taka will be taken from them as students of the same year.

Earlier, there was no government college, so he took it now, he said, " I can't take money from the students of the same year in two ways."

When asked about the salary without receipt, he said that it was taken because there was no receipt book in the college. However, there is no difference. All money has been deposited in the bank.
