A case has been filed against 21 activists of Awami League in Betagi, Barguna. After the fall of Sheikh Hasina government, the case was filed on the allegation of Awami League's attack on the BNP's joyous march. The plaintiff of the case is a resident of Sadar Union. On Friday (October 18) around 10:30 a.m. Betagi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the case. Earlier, the case was filed at Betagi police station last Tuesday night.
Among the accused in the case, the notable defendants are - Betagi Upazila Awami League's former organizational secretary b. Mr. Fahria Sangram Aminul, Municipal Awami League President Babul Akhter, Municipal Chhatra League's former General Secretary Md. Rafiqul Islam, General Secretary of Upazila Sramik League Abdul Mannan Howladar, former panel mayor of the municipality and member of Upazila Awami League. Masud Khan, Labor Affairs Secretary. Nasir Fakir, Treasurer of Rickshaw Workers Union Saiful Islam Sagar, Vice President of Upazila Volunteer League. A total of 21 leaders and activists including Rabbi Howladar have been named as accused.
According to the police and case sources, the former prime minister of Awami League government Sheikha Hasina resigned in the face of the students' movement on August 5. On that day, BNP leaders and activists took out a joyous procession in Betagi town as Sheikh Hasina left the country and went to India.
At that time, the accused accused in the case, armed with different types of indigenous weapons, attacked various BNP leaders and activists who participated in the Anand procession. Apart from this, the accused also exploded the cocktail.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Betagi Police Station Mahbubur Rahman said that a case has been filed against BNP's Anand procession. Legal action will be taken against those who are found to be involved in the incident after investigation.
