Fiction writer Selina Hossain has resigned from the post of president of Bangla Academy. The director general of the academy, Mohammad Azam, said that he signed the resignation letter on Thursday.

He said Selina Hossain has signed the resignation letter. But there is a process to accept the president's resignation, unless it is completed we cannot officially say that he has resigned. As it is under process, we will let everyone know when the resignation letter is accepted.
Selina Hossain told the media about the resignation, officials from Bangla Academy came to my house. I signed the resignation letter to them.
Fiction writer Selina Hossain was appointed by the Awami League government as the president of the academy on February 3, 2022 for a three-year term. He spent 34 years of service at the academy before taking over on February 6 that year.
Selina Hossain is a fiction writer, novelist, researcher and essayist. Besides writing, he served as the chairman of Bangladesh Shishu Academy for several terms. He received the 'Bangla Academy Literary Award' in 1980 for his contribution to novels. In 2009 he received 'Ekushey Padak' in language and literature and in 2018 he received 'Swadynta Puraskar' in literature.
