Three days before the opening of the series against South Africa, changes have been made to Bangladesh's first Test squad. Shakib Al Hasan, who was in the previous squad, is not coming to the country mainly due to security reasons. That is why the uncapped left-arm spinner Hasan Murad has been taken in the team for the first match instead of him. Later Chief Selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu explained the matter.
Shakib's
In a statement sent by the BCB, the chief selector said, 'We have been told that Shakib is not available for the first Test. He is at the end of his Test career, but we have no substitute for his experience with bat and ball.'
Then Lipu gave the reason for taking Murad in the team, 'Hasan Murad has performed consistently in first class cricket. He was also in our system. Hasan Murad will bring balance to our bowling, especially at home. We believe he has the potential to play at this stage.'
Earlier, the 23-year-old spinner got his first call-up for the Test series against New Zealand in December last year. However, Sebar did not make his national team debut. However, he made his international debut at the Asian Games held in Hangzhou. Murad also played two matches there.
The young left-arm spinner has had a rich first-class career. He has taken 136 wickets in 30 matches. But this time too it will be difficult for him to get a chance in the eleven of the national team. Because besides spin all-rounder Mehdi Hasan Miraj, there are experienced Taijul Islam and Naeem Hasan as specialist spinners. The first Test between Bangladesh and South Africa will start on October 21 at Mirpur Sher-e Bangla Stadium. The second Test will be played at Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong from October 29.
