Jumbangla Desk: The International Criminal Tribunal has issued an arrest warrant against former Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina for the genocide that took place last July-August. Apart from him, there are 45 names of Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader in the warrant issuance list. Several names of Sheikh family are also mentioned among them.

Meanwhile, the International Criminal Tribunal issued the arrest warrant on Thursday (October 17) following two separate applications. The International Criminal Tribunal for the murders of the student-crowd started this morning. Those against whom arrest warrants have been issued, including Sheikh Hasina, have been directed to arrest and appear before this tribunal by November 18.
Among those against whom arrest warrants have been issued, the names of some of the Sheikh family have come to light. They are former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her younger sister Sheikh Rehana and her son Sajib Wazed Joy, her cousin Sheikh Salim, her cousin's son Barrister Fazle Noor Tapas and Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash. Many of those listed in the arrest warrants have not been named. Advocate Tajul Islam, chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal, said that many of these criminals are still in various important positions of the state. That is why their names are not being disclosed.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina is currently staying in India. By what process will he be arrested? In response to the questions of the journalists, the chief prosecutor of the tribunal said that the measures to execute the arrest warrant will be taken by adopting all the processes and measures which are in the conventional law of Bangladesh and international law.
In response to another question, he said, not everyone's name is included here. The names of 45 people including Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader have been mentioned in the second application. Not all names are mentioned here. We will gradually collect more information and take legal action against the rest. We have included the names of those we felt were most important. We will take further action subject to receipt of information.
Meanwhile, the International Criminal Tribunal was formed in 2010 to try the 1971 crimes against humanity. This tribunal has already tried and executed many people for crimes against humanity in 1971. Several others accused of crimes against humanity were on trial at the tribunal. Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and left the country in the face of the student-public movement. The interim government formed after that announced the trial of crimes against humanity committed in this movement in the International Criminal Tribunal.
