Education stakeholders have demanded the formation of a permanent education commission to improve the quality of education. They said that the process of denigration of education which started since independence is still continuing.
The speakers said these things at a discussion on 'Education system and reform in which way' at the National Press Club of the capital on Friday.
The chief guest at the event, former state education minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan said that the education system of the country has been completely destroyed. Where neighboring countries have created education hubs, our boys and girls are going to study there. By doing this, the foreign currency of the country is also lost.
He said that although various commissions have been formed under the interim government, no education commission has been formed, which is unfortunate. But we expected a Permanent Education Commission. Education commission was formed several times after independence but it did not bring proper benefits. We want an education commission to be formed in this phase who will work on education reform in coordination with the Ministry of Education.
The former state minister said, there are teachers who can shape the education sector of our country but those teachers are not being properly evaluated. He said, a university budget is prepared and sent to the UGC, that budget is sent to the government. Then the government sends that budget to the university.
Speakers in the program said that students have been made guinea pigs again and again. In the last 15 years, the education system has been completely destroyed.
Professor Salimullah Khan was the main speaker on the occasion.
