Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has warned that there is a high risk of war between Israel and Iran in the current situation, and the entire Middle East region, including Turkey, must be prepared.

"War between Israel and Iran must be considered a high possibility," Fidan said in a television program in Istanbul on Friday. But this is not a comprehensive matter, which we want. We do not wish for the spread of war and the spread of instability across the region'.

Turkey in no way supports any conflict with Iran that could lead to war, Fidan said, adding that if Iran has the right to defend itself, it is up to it to exercise that right.

Meanwhile, regarding the claim of the death of Yahya Sinwar, the head of the Hamas political bureau, Fidan said, Ankara is waiting for a confirmation from Hamas, although the matter has not been rejected by Hamas.

He described the current situation in Gaza as 'an open graveyard', where thousands of innocent people have been killed.

According to Turkey's assessment, Israel is on a military plan to eliminate the threats it faces one by one, Fidan added. These include Hamas, Hezbollah and Yemen's Houthi rebels.

Regarding the PKK terrorist group, Fidan stressed that Turkey has repeatedly called on the United States to end its cooperation with the PKK terrorist group and that no one sees this as beneficial. He expressed hope that the United States and the United Kingdom would sever their ties with the PKK.

Regarding the normalization process of Ankara-Athens relations, Fidan noted that there is a process for normalization of relations between Türkiye and Greece and both sides are showing maximum sensitivity to reduce tensions.

He expressed the hope that this process would bring beneficial results for both parties.

Regarding NATO, the Turkish Foreign Minister said, you cannot weaken Turkey to strengthen NATO.

At the same meeting, he mentioned various restrictions and limitations on Turkey's defense industry and emphasized the need for further progress in the context of NATO.

Regarding Turkey's interest in joining BRICS, Fidan said, there is increasing interest in BRICS to expand economic partnership in different regions of the world. Source: Anadolu Agency
