Eyewitnesses and injured in the attack, Maidul Mir said, Joynagar UP member Md. Hossain Howlader owns a grocery store in Ghoraghat area of ​​Ghazaria river. He sells illegal current nets in shops under the guise of groceries and contracts with local fishermen to catch fish during the hilsa breeding season. Around 11 am on Friday, his brother Saidul Mir, while staying at Ghoraghat area, stopped the UP member while selling current nets and making contracts with fishermen and requested him to comply with government laws. When the UP members got angry at this, a fight started between them.


At one stage, the UP member started beating Saidul Mir along with 25-30 members of the Kazirhat Thana Swachhasevak League workers Liton Gazi, Dulal Gazi and Sohag Gazi. At least 10 people including Neyamul Sikder, Maidul Mir, Hridoy Sikder were injured while trying to protect him. On the screams of the injured people, the neighbors rescued them and admitted them to the Muladi Upazila Health Complex. Among them, Saidul Mir and Neyamul Sikder were sent to Barisal Sherebangla Medical College Hospital as their condition was critical.

Hossain Hawladar denied the allegations of selling nets and hunting hilsa and said that volunteer party leader Saidul Mir bought hilsa fish of 800 rupees from fishermen and paid 500 rupees. There was an argument and a fight between the fishermen and the leader. Some may get injured.

Kazirhat Police Station OC Md. Mazharul Islam said that the police were sent to the spot after receiving news of a fight over catching and selling hilsa. No written complaint has been received in this incident so far. Quick action will be taken if complaints are received.
