Trinamool BNP Chairperson Shamser Mobin Chowdhury has been sent to jail in connection with the murder of Jubo Dal leader Shamim.

On Friday (October 18), the police produced him in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka. After that, Sub-Inspector (SI) Tanmoy Kumar Biswas of Paltan police station requested to keep him in jail until the investigation of the case is over.

After the hearing, Judge Afnan Sumi ordered to send him to jail.

Earlier on Thursday (October 17) afternoon, DB Police arrested him from Banani DOHS house in the capital.

He was sent back from the airport the day before. This former diplomat was trying to go abroad with his wife.

BNP has called a general meeting on October 28, 2023 as per the central programme. Awami League called a counter rally on the same day to protest this mass meeting. With the help of the police, an attack was carried out on the BNP's grand meeting in Dhaka with the intention of killing and missing the BNP leaders and activists. Youth Dal leader Shamim was killed. A case was filed in Paltan Police Station of the capital on September 24, 2024. He was arrested in that case.
