Jamuna Television's Mymensingh bureau chief Hossain Shahid, daily Kalbela's district representative Delwar Hossain have organized human chain and rally programs to protest the torture and persecution of journalists across the country.
A human chain and protest rally was held in front of the Dhanmahal Kalikhala temple on the initiative of Mofaswal Journalist Forum and Yugantar Swajan Rally in Gouripur, Mymensingh on Friday.
At the beginning, a minute's silence was observed in memory of the martyred journalists and journalists who sacrificed themselves in protesting injustice in the great liberation war of 1971 and the anti-discrimination student movement and sought forgiveness for their departed souls.
The rally speakers said that journalists are now the obstacle to free movement of domination and misdeeds. Journalists are now being targeted by corrupt drug addicts, criminals and political influencers all over the country. They are being attacked and prosecuted, tortured and persecuted, journalists have to be protected. Implementation of 14 points of BMSF including Journalist Protection Act is the need of the hour.
The protest rally was chaired by Gouripur upazila branch vice-president and daily Jugantar's Gouripur representative Md. Raich Uddin Cultural secretary of the organization Ashikur Rahman Rajib (Ajak Shatabdi) moderated.

In the rally, journalist leaders including journalist Gholam Sarwar Sagar and his wife Mehrun Rooney, journalist Swapan Bhadra killed in Mymensingh, Abdul Hakim Shimul of Sirajganj, Moshiur Rahman Utsha of Rangpur, Shahzada Mia Azad, Subarna Nadi of Pabna, Ihsan Ibn Reza Fagun of Jamalpur, Burhan Uddin Muzakkir of Noakhali, and all other journalists were killed. A speedy settlement of the trial is demanded.
