Jumbangla Desk: The workers of Palli Vidyut Samiti have postponed the 'Complete Shutdown' program till next Sunday on the call of Mahfuz Alam, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government. After they announced the suspension of this program last Thursday evening, electricity supply was normalized in the areas under the association across the country. Coordinator of the movement, Rural Electricity AGM Abdul Hakeem told the media that the Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser sought time to discuss the demands. The program has been suspended with an assurance of no harassment including withdrawal of cases and release of detainees. In a press conference organized at Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Friday evening, Mahfuz Alam said, 'Rural electricity workers are planning to go on strike. We will ask you to come to talk with us.'

According to BASS, the court granted remand for three days to six officials of Palli Vidyut Samity (POBIS) in two separate sedition cases filed at Khilkhet police station of the capital on the charge of destabilizing the power sector. The remanded accused are Rajan Kumar Das, assistant general manager of Palli Vidyut Samiti of Munshiganj, Asaduzzaman Bhuiyan, deputy general manager of Nabinagar in Brahmanbaria, Deepak Kumar Singh, deputy general manager of Comilla, Rahat, deputy general manager of Sreepur zonal office of Magura, Monir Hossain, assistant general manager of Netrakona and Sirajganj Palli. Belal Hossain of Vidyut Samiti-2. Among them, Belal Hossain is the accused in one case. The other five are accused in another case. They were produced in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka yesterday. After that, Khilkhet police station inspector Ashiqur Rahman Dewan applied to remand them for 10 days. After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farzana Shakila Sumu Chowdhury rejected their bail application and remanded them for three days.

Meanwhile, Chandina (Comilla) Correspondent said that a case has been filed against 156 officials and employees of Comilla Palli Vidyut Samiti-1 on charges of public nuisance and anti-state behavior in the name of electricity connection shutdown movement. Five people were arrested by the joint forces in this incident. The case was filed by Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board Executive Engineer Milton Ghosh.
Earlier, Arshad Hossain, director of administration (law branch) of Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board, Khilkhet police station, filed two separate cases at Khilkhet police station on October 17 for destabilizing the power sector. The case has charged them with Sedition and Cyber Security Act.

It is alleged in the case that since January 28, some misguided officers/employees of various Rural Electricity Associations have come together under the identity of Central Committee to destabilize the emergency service power sector in collaboration with domestic and international circles and with the help of various Ministers, MPs and influential people of the previous government making various unreasonable demands. Conspiracies in Dawa are obstructing rural electrification activities. Indulged in various destructive activities. Their activities include an attempt to seriously destabilize the interim government formed through a mass student uprising. All these activities of theirs are tarnishing the image of the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board, defaming the officials of the board and creating public hatred against the interim government by shutting down the power system and putting the government in an extremely embarrassing situation, which amounts to treason.

Meanwhile, workers of Palli Vidyut Samity (POBIS) conducted black out program across the country. First of all, Pobis officials stopped power supply in several districts last Thursday after talking about demand collection. People of different classes and occupations of those areas were suffering for several hours. Hospital services are also shut down from mill production. In this incident, the joint forces took some officials of Pobis into custody. Four officials of Manikganj Rural Electricity Office have been taken into custody by the joint forces. AGM Monir Hossain of Palli Vidyut has been arrested in Netrokona.

According to a report by the German-based online media 'The Mirror Asia' last Wednesday, the Awami League-appointed officials working in Pobis are planning to carry out planned load-shedding in the country between October 18-28, so as to create public anger against the government during their next long march. is
Mirror Asia's report expressed concern that Awami League is planning a long march towards Dhaka in November to destabilize the country under the banner of Palli Vidyut Samity (POBIS). All those appointed for political reasons during their tenure are being approached by the party to join the long march. After several unsuccessful attempts, the Awami League is trying to disrupt the power supply across the country and disrupt the interim government.
The report claims that a state intelligence agency has said that at least 16 officials of Palli Vidyut Samiti, illegal beneficiaries of the fugitive Sheikh Hasina era, are involved in such a plot. Rajan Kumar Das, AGM of Munshiganj Palli Vidyut Samiti, is serving as the coordinator among these officials who led the recent movement of Palli Vidyut Samiti. He used to introduce himself as Sheikh Hasina's son. After August 5, he killed the bug. Currently this Rajan Das is coordinating the entire movement.

Apart from this, Senior AGM of Brahmanbaria Pobis Md Maqbul Hossain, Noakhali Pobis Wiring Inspector Salam Jabed, Sirajganj Pobis DGM Md Belal, Dhaka Pobis-1 AGM Abdul Hakim, Brahmanbaria Nabinagar Pobis DGM Asaduzzaman Bhuiyan, Comilla Pobis-1 DGM Deepak Kumar Singh, Monir Hossain, AGM of Netrokona Pobis, Yasir Arafat, AGM of Jhalkathi Pobis, Md Salah Uddin, AGM of Bandura Sub Office, Dhaka, Senior GM of Dhaka Pobis-1, Abul Hossain, Senior GM of Comilla Pobis-4, Md Zakir Hossain, GM of Barisal Pobis-1. Md. Humayun Kabir, GM of Thakurgaon Pobis Md. Mahfuzur Rahman and GM Shah Md. Razzakur Rahman of Naogaon Pobis are involved in this conspiracy.

The long march will be called sometime next week (October 18-28). A leaflet and a message (message) have been sent on WhatsApp to many people of Palli Vidyut Samiti for that. All are assured to pay travel expenses in advance to develop mobile banking service providers. During the Awami League period, all those appointed in Palli Vidyut Samiti due to political considerations are being contacted by the party to join the long march. The Mirror Asia learned that an Awami League leader from Calcutta, India and two officers of the intelligence agency 'RA' are overseeing the entire plan.

An official of an intelligence agency in Bangladesh told The Mirror Asia that an assistant general manager (AGM) of POBIS is coordinating the new plan. In the leadership of that AGM, various rumors are being instigated in Palli Vidyut Samiti. They also learned that India's industrial group Adani was funding the unrest. It is known that the interim government is thinking of revising the monopoly agreement that the Sheikh Hasina government made with Adani, which is against the interests of Bangladesh. After knowing this, Adani is trying to create instability in the power sector through Palli Vidyut Samity. And the AGM has a key role in this. According to the intelligence agency of Bangladesh, not only India's Adani Group, but the Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (R) is helping in this new plan to create instability inside the country.

The police arrested the Assistant General Manager (AGM) Monir Hossain of Barhatta Palli Vidyut of Netrakona. A team of district intelligence police arrested him on Thursday night. Later on Friday morning, he was handed over to Dhaka's Khilkhet police station.
The interim government has already accepted the reasonable demands of Palli Vidyut Samiti. A committee has been constituted to rationalize the demand for introduction and consolidation of uniform service code for Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BAPBIBO) and Palli Vidyut Samiti (POBIS). Line Crew has been regularized against vacant posts. Meanwhile, Pobi's weekend has been increased to 2 days and 5 percent special incentive has been implemented.
About 45 thousand officers and employees are working in 80 Palli Vidyut Samiti in 64 districts of the country. It is about 80 percent of the country's total customers. The officers and employees of Palli Vidyut Samiti were making some demands to the board. They have been protesting for about 10 months to get their demands. 20 officers who were leading the movement were fired last Wednesday. A complete shutdown program was announced in protest against this. Pobis officials and employees participated in the movement by black out program in different districts from Thursday morning.

The agitators said that the officers and employees of 80 Rural Electricity Associations have been agitating for a long time to implement various demands including implementation of uniform service code and regularization of contractual and irregular jobs by merging Rural Electrification Board and Rural Electricity Association. In the meantime, 10 employees of Palli Vidyut Samiti were terminated from their jobs on Wednesday and 10 more employees on Thursday. They protested against it. They said that their activities will continue until the demand is implemented.
However, the Rural Electrification Board claims, destabilizing the emergency services power sector, disrespecting the directives of the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board and indulging in activities against office discipline, they have been terminated by letter as per the rules. The movement is completely irrational.

Abdus Salam, deputy zonal manager of Patharghata Rural Electricity Association, said that Rural Electrification Board (REB) and Rural Electricity Association (POBIS) have been agitating for a long time to demand the implementation of uniform employment rules and regularization of all contractual and irregular employees. The Rural Electrification Board (REB) does not want this because their powers will be undermined. They buy bad meters, cables and other bad goods and give us bad name. Two similar institutions will operate under the same rules. Within this movement, 20 of our officers have been dismissed and many officers have been transferred. They must be withdrawn.
