Jumbangla Desk: The police have arrested a person named Mamun Ali alias King Ali on charges of 'filmy style' attack, vandalism and extortion demand at a business establishment called 'Mohammed Trading' in Dakshin Kattali area under Pahartali police station of the port city of Chittagong.
The police claimed that he was arrested red-handed during extortion at around 10 o'clock on Thursday (17 October).
Son of Haji Ashraf Ali of Golchipa Para of Halishahar Police Station in King Ali Nagar. He was said to be a member of Nagar BNP.
Earlier on Thursday, Mohammad Trading manager Arif Moinuddin filed a case against King Ali and his brother Lokman Ali at Pahartali police station on charges of assault, vandalism and extortion.
According to the statement, King Ali's brother Lokman Ali went to the plaintiff's establishment at around 5:30 pm on October 16 and threatened to eviction and loot the goods. The next day at noon some unidentified persons led by King Ali entered the plaintiff's establishment with sticks and beat up the employees. At this time they caused a loss of 2 crore rupees to the organization. Besides, King Ali looted Tk 3 million in cash from the plaintiff's company and threatened to pay another Tk 1 crore. Later, he looted goods worth Tk 1 crore 40 lakh from the plaintiff's company in a truck.
He said, 'A case has been filed against two people on charges of assault, vandalism, looting and extortion in an organization called Mohammad Trading. In this case, the police went to the spot on Thursday night to find the initial truth of the allegations and the main accused Mamun Ali alias King Ali was present there. He was then arrested.'
Tarek Aziz said, 'King Ali brought 150 of his followers to the scene to avoid arrest. They give a showdown there. There are multiple cases against King Ali.'
