South's President Yoon Suk-yul called a security meeting to discuss the matter on Friday. All high-ranking officials, including the army chief, are expected to be present there.
The country's intelligence agency claimed that 1,200 troops from the North had already arrived in Russia to fight. Will go further. In total, 12,000 Korean troops may join the Russia-Ukraine war.
North Korea has provided Russia with missiles and other weapons. Evidence of which has been found in the remains of missiles found in the Poltava region of Ukraine. Now they are going to send troops directly.
Relations between Russia and North Korea have deepened in recent months. Last week North's President Kim Jong Un wished Russian President Vladimir Putin on his birthday. In the greeting message, he also called Putin as his 'closest comrade-in-arms'.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian intelligence said that Russia is planning to form a unit with only North Korean soldiers.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said a few days ago that they have learned from intelligence sources that 10,000 North Korean troops may join the war. Then South Korea gave such information.
