Jumbangla Desk: The court granted a three-day remand to Kamal Ahmed Majumdar , former state minister for industries, former member of parliament from Dhaka-15 constituency and chairman of Mohana Television, in the case of Ikramul Haque's murder in Shahali police station area of the capital during the anti-discrimination movement.
On Saturday (October 19) morning, the police produced him in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka. After that, the investigating officer of the case and sub-inspector of Kafrul police station Haroon ur Rashid applied to take him on seven-day remand for proper investigation of the case. The lawyer of the accused filed a bail application seeking cancellation of the remand. The state party took a position in favor of remand.
After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider granted his three-day remand. Kafrul Thana police arrested him from Gulshan area of the capital on Friday (October 19) night.
During the anti-discrimination student movement, the victim Ikramul Haque was injured in a shooting in front of Shah Ali shrine of Mirpur-10 on August 4. He was taken to the Combined Military Hospital for treatment. He died there on August 14. In this incident, Ikramul Haque's father Ziaul Haque filed a murder case at Shahali police station on September 7.
