People have been using cold drinks to keep the body cool for decades. The history of cold drinks begins in the 17th century. It was then that lemonade made from lemon juice, water and honey by the French company 'Company de Limonadiers' flooded the market. Later, other European countries started using carbonated water in cold drinks. In 1780, Johann Jacob Schewipp in Geneva invented the first process of using carbonates in water.

The unique shape and design of cold drink bottles is important for advertising and brand identity. But not only that, there is science behind notching the back of cold drinks. According to various reports, the gas in the cold drink bottles caused the bottles to crack. The gas is introduced by pressurizing the cold drink, which puts more pressure on the flat bottles. As a result, the bottle is likely to burst. But if the bottle is grooved, the volume of the bottle changes due to excess pressure. As a result, the consistency of the bottle is correct. For the same reason the lower part of the bottles is stiffer than the upper part. This particular type of bottle design is called 'corrugation'.
