Jumbangla Desk: Chhatra Dal leaders have been accused of attacking 3 members of Jamaat in Baufal of Patuakhali. Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists held a protest march in the upazila city in protest of this incident.
On Saturday (October 19) at noon, an attack took place in Amirabad market and Narayanapasha village of Konakdia union of the upazila. 3 people were injured in this incident. The injured are Moniruzzaman Ajibullah (31), Mohammad Al-Amin (27) and Naeem Abdullah (34). They claimed to be workers of Jamaat-e-Islami. The injured have been admitted to Upazila Health Complex.
Meanwhile, the accused claimed that the Chhatra Dal leaders and activists were not involved in the attack. On the other hand, Jamaat-e-Islami held a protest march in the upazila town in the afternoon.
The victims said that in the morning there was an introductory meeting of Jamaat-e-Islami at the house of Altaf Hawladar of Narayanapasha village. After the meeting, 40-50 Chhatra Dal leaders and activists attacked the injured Ajibullah and Al-Amin under the leadership of former chairman Jahangir's son Russell and upazila Chhatra Dal joint convener Miraj. Later they went to Narayanapasha village and attacked Naeem as well. The injured claimed that they were beaten with sticks and iron rods.
Denying the allegations, Upazila Chhatra Dal's joint convener Muminul Islam Miraj said, "We have also heard about the attack." No one from Chhatra Dal is involved in this attack. However, among the injured, Naeem Abdullah of Narayanpasha village is a supporter of Awami League. He was the joint general secretary of the last committee of Upazila Chhatra League. Because of this, he also thinks that the angry locals may attack him.
Baufal Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Md. Rafiqul Islam said, we do not consider the attackers to belong to any party, they are poor. Demand exemplary punishment for them. He also commented that if there is no punishment, such incidents will continue.
