It is alleged that the hilsa killing festival is going on across the river avoiding the eyes of the administration by managing some unscrupulous people of the Hilsa Raksha Abhiyan team.

On Saturday (October 19), it can be seen that hundreds of fishing boats and motorized trawlers have been plying the entire river since morning. It is alleged that the fishermen are freely killing hilsa by managing some dishonest people in the hilsa protection campaign team.
Those unscrupulous persons took advantage of the special privileges and conveyed the news of the administration's operation to the fishermen. The fishermen became alert. After the expedition, they went down to the river again with nets.
It is known that hilsa hunting is going on freely in Chakrajapur of Padma river in Bagha upazila of Rajshahi, Chakrajapur, Charkalidaskhali, Atarpara, Palashi Fatebpur, Sadakghat, Khayerhat, Mushidpur, Sarerhat, Kishorepur, Alaipur, Mirganj, Char Barrett, Shoula Tare pole points of Monigram Union.
Fishermen fished in the river under the patronage of local influentials. News of the administration's raids reached the fishermen through unscrupulous people. Due to which it is not possible to stop hilsa hunting despite regular operations.
It is known from several related sources that Bagha Padma Upazila Fisheries Department divided into several teams and conducted operations in the river. Fast trawlers and speedboats are used in these operations. The crew of these trawlers and speedboats convey the news of the expedition to the fishermen.
Meanwhile, the fish caught in violation of the ban is secretly sold around the river. Local influencers are involved in this sale. Members of local influential circles buy hilsa fish from fishermen at low prices. They also have syndicates. Fishermen cannot sell fish to others outside that syndicate.
Upazila Fisheries Officer. Saidul Islam said, the operation is ongoing. Strict action will be taken against any member of the Fisheries Department or Naval Police if it is found that any member of the Fisheries Department or Naval Police has taken any special advantage and leaked the information of the operation to the fishermen.
