Jumbangla Desk: The body of an imam named Maulana Ruhul Amin (37) was recovered from under the bed of his house in Golapganj upazila of Sylhet. The incident took place in Hilalpur of Fulbari Union of the upazila at around 5 pm on Saturday (October 19). Ruhul's first wife Nadia Begum (40) was arrested by the police in this incident.

Imam

Ruhul Amin is the son of Shahidur Rahman of Lam Demi village of Daubari union in Kanighat upazila of Sylhet district.

He served as the imam of a local Hilalpur mosque and lived in a rented house.

According to police and local sources, Nadia Begum suffocated her husband Ruhul Amin unconscious and hid him under the bed sometime on Friday night. Then Ruhul went to Amin's father's house and said that he could not find her husband. Then around five in the afternoon, the local residents recovered the body of Ruhul Amin from under the bed of the house.

After receiving the information, the police came and arrested Nahia Begum and took her to the police station.

It is known that the deceased Maulana Ruhul had a second marriage 15 days ago. Before this, he married his first wife Nadia Begum in 2020. Initially, the police believe that this murder may happen around the new marriage.

Officer-in-charge of Golapganj Model Police Station, Mir Mohammad Abdun Nas, confirmed the recovery of the body and said, 'The body has been recovered and sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem.'

He said that the wife has been detained and brought to the police station for questioning, "Next steps will be taken according to the law."
