Thousands of victims of Morelganj and Sharankhola upazilas participated in the human chain today on Saturday. During the human chain, the speakers in the rally complained that when the student movement started last July, the opportunity seeker Shipon Kazi left for London.

Before this, he used to work closely with Awami League in the area. Because of that, no movement against Awami League's misrule has been formed in Bagerhat-4 (Morelganj-Sharankhola) constituency for 17 years.

Speakers said that after August 5, Shipon Kazi returned home from London and formed his own group by organizing the new BNP and joining their party with a large amount of money from the friends of Awami misrule, financiers and terrorists. After that, they established a reign of terror in the area by occupying fishing enclosures, attacking businesses and houses.

Even though Awami got rid of misrule, real BNP leaders and activists are being attacked and forced to leave their homes under the control of the so-called new BNP.
Hasan Sheikh, granddaughter of the victim Yusuf Sheikh, said, 'They took 50 lakh taka from my grandfather, took possession of the house. We are all homeless now. Shipon Kazi and his army people are worse than Hasina's dictatorship.

Another victim Tanya Islam said, 'We all want to be freed from the extortion and occupation of Kazi Shipon. Even after going to the local BNP leaders and administration, I did not get any remedy. Many of my relatives have been sued, except for our area. I want the safety of my family and the return of the occupied compound to the interim government.'

Hafez Maulana Mufti Matiur Rahman said, 'Shipon Kazi and his people have built a mountain worth billions of rupees by extorting and looting the area. Before August 5, Shipon Kazi worked as Awami League's B-Team. Under his leadership, more than two hundred fish cages have been captured. We want a solution to this from Tariq Rahman, acting chairman of BNP.

Youth Dal leader Rafiqul Islam, persecuted by Awami League, said, Shipon Kazi is organizing a party with Awami League people using the signboard of BNP. Awami League leader Daud Mridha vandalized my house and looted four and a half lakh taka. He also joined the BNP. They are not allowing any news of looting and irregularities in the area to be published by threatening the local journalists.

Local BNP leader Advocate Farhana Jahan Nipa said, 'There has been a sweeping march in the area against the local Awami agent and broker Shipon Kazi. In exchange of money, BNP made pocket committees in police stations and upazilas. Local Awami League leader and UP chairman made Badshah join the party.
