Religion Desk: Recitation of the Holy Quran is the best form of worship. Those who do not recite, study and practice the Qur'an, the Prophet (PBUH) will complain to Allah on the Day of Resurrection saying, O my Lord! These people abandoned the Quran. (Surah Furqan, verse: 30).
Rasulullah (s.a.w.) said, "The Qur'an belongs to Allah and belongs to the special family of Allah." (Musnad Ahmad: 12292). He also said that the heart that does not have the Quran is like an abandoned house. (Tirmidhi: 2913).
Currently, as a result of the development of technology, people are getting the opportunity to recite the Quran through mobile and computer screens through various apps and websites. In the case of reciting the Qur'an on a computer, mobile or any other digital device, the provision of the Sharia is that it is not necessary to perform ablution if you recite it without touching the screen.
It can be recited apart from ablution. But if ghusl is obligatory, it will not be permissible. Because the Prophet (PBUH) said, a person whose menstruation and ablution are necessary should not recite the Qur'an. (Tirmidhi, Hadith: 131).
And if the recitation is done by touching the screen, then most of the faqihs are of the opinion that it cannot be touched without performing ablution. Whenever the Qur'anic verse appears on the screen, one must perform ablution to touch it.
The Prophet (PBUH) said, No one should touch the Qur'an unless it is pure. (Muatta Malik, Hadith: 680). When Umar (RA) was a non-Muslim, when he wanted to touch the Qur'an, his sister said, "You are impure, and no one can touch this book unless it is holy." (Musnadul Bazzar: 1/401).
However, some contemporary scholars said, if the writing of the Qur'an is permanent, it is not permissible to touch it without ablution, such as the Qur'an printed on paper. Quran on mobile screen is not permanent. It is visible for a short period of time through some light rays. It also has a glass cover. So it can be touched without ablution.
