International Desk: Chinese President Xi Jinping asked the army to prepare for war. China's state-run broadcaster CCTV reported the news on Saturday night (October 19) to AFP.

On October 17, during a visit to a brigade of the People's Liberation Army Rocket Force, China's president said the military should comprehensively train and strengthen combat readiness.

Xi Jinping also said that the military must protect the country's strategic security and core interests. It should be ensured that they have solid fighting capabilities.

A few days before the Chinese president said this, the Chinese army had held a large-scale military exercise around Taiwan.

China claims Taiwan as part of its territory , and Beijing has greatly increased its show of force around the self-governing East Asian island in recent years.

Note that Taiwan was separated from the mainland after the Communists seized power in China in 1949. However, Beijing has always considered Taiwan a province of its own. Western countries have been in tension with China for a long time over the Taiwan issue.
