Suspended BNP leader

District BNP president Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury confirmed this information on Wednesday.

According to BNP sources, a letter signed by Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, senior joint secretary general of the party, informed about the suspension of Rafiqul Islam's party post on October 14. A copy of this letter was also sent to district BNP president Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury and general secretary Emran Ahmad Chowdhury. However, this copy reached them this afternoon.

In this regard, Qayyum Chowdhury said that the Central Committee has ordered the suspension of all party posts of Rafiqul Islam for party discipline and anti-ideological activities. Acting chairman of the party, Tariq Rahman, has instructions to take organizational measures if any allegations of wrongdoing against anyone are found to be true.

Earlier, after the fall of the Awami League government, stone looting started from the Jaflong stone quarry in Goainghat upazila of Sylhet from August 5. It was alleged that BNP leader Rafiqul Islam has patronage. In view of this, the central BNP took organizational measures against him.
