Awami League presidium member and former minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak and his wife Arjumand Banu Nargis' wealth increased like magic in 2014. His wife's wealth increased more than that of Nanak. Arjumand Banu's wealth in 2008 was 26 lakh 77 thousand 54 taka, which increased to 4 crore 72 lakh 94 thousand 179 taka in 2014. On the other hand, Nanak's wealth was 1 crore 45 lakh 21 thousand 402 rupees.

The source of income of Nanak and his wife has been questioned. No correlation was found between the couple's visible income and their wealth acquisition. This huge increase in wealth is considered an unusual phenomenon. Law enforcement agencies have already started an investigation into the matter.

After becoming an MP, Kabir Nanak's wealth increased 30 times in 15 years. This is of course only as per his income tax. Apart from this, information about his huge wealth has been found in the capital Dhaka, Barisal and Cox's Bazar. According to the information obtained from various sources, this member of the presidium of Awami League owns at least hundreds of crores of rupees. Several cases of murder and attempted murder have already been registered against him in the capital Dhaka and Barisal. He has been on the run since the August uprising. Due to which he could not be contacted despite various attempts. No statement could be taken about acquiring illegal wealth either.

It is known that Jahangir Kabir Nanak got the responsibility of State Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Ministry after becoming an MP in the 2008 elections. At that time, the then General Secretary of Awami League, late Syed Ashraful Islam, was the full minister of this ministry. Ashraf did not go to the ministry much. State Minister Nanak took care of everything due to his indifference and negligence in fulfilling his duties. And this opportunity changed the wheel of his fortune. In the 5 years of his duty, there were widespread allegations of irregularities and corruption against him. From tender to allotment, there was talk of giving him percentage in all the development works of the ministry.

Evidence of this discussion is found in the pace of growth of Nanak's wealth. In the affidavit filed in 2008, he gave an account of assets of 36 lakh 98 thousand 597 rupees. At that time, he showed an annual income of Tk 2 lakh from business and agriculture. In the affidavit submitted, Nanak also gave the information about the assets of 26 lakh 77 thousand 54 rupees in the name of his wife. The total wealth of the two was 63 lakh 75 thousand 651 rupees.

In 2014, the account of this wealth increased like magic. Their wealth has increased 10 times and stands at 6 crore 18 lakh 15 thousand 581 taka. In this case, however, the wealth of his wife Arjumand Banu Nargis increased more than Nanak. In 2008, where the wealth of the wife was 26 lakh 77 thousand 54 taka, in 2014 it stood at 4 crore 72 lakh 94 thousand 179 taka. In this case Nanak's wealth was 1 crore 45 lakh 21 thousand 402 taka. Although the wife's job, own business, fish farm income are shown as the reasons for the increase in wealth, no one has found any correlation between the visible income of this couple and the acquisition of wealth. Nanak's wife Arjumand Banu worked in a private bank. In the affidavit filed in 2014, his annual income was Tk 7 lakh 43 thousand 486.

Wealth increased 30 times in 15 years: Nanak sought party nomination in the 11th National Assembly elections. But he did not get the service. As a result, he remained outside the parliament. Although not an MP, he had both influence and prestige as the joint general secretary of the party. He used to apply these extensively. Due to which the amount of wealth also increases at its own pace. Even though he is not an MP, Nanak has been accused of collecting percentages on the issue of tender control, transfer trade and lobbying on various issues. The proof of which can be found in the affidavit submitted by him after receiving the party nomination in the 2024 election. This time, Nanak couple submitted the information of having assets of 18 crore 87 lakh 15 thousand 951 rupees together with husband and wife. Among them, Nanak's wealth is 12 crore 25 lakh 85 thousand 327 and his wife's wealth is 6 crore 61 lakh 30 thousand 624 rupees. In 2008, where their total wealth was 63 lakh 75 thousand 651 taka, by 2024 their wealth has increased to 18 crore 23 lakh 40 thousand 300 taka. Nanak and his wife have shown many questionable surprises in the analysis of the affidavit. In 2008, where Nanak's annual income was only Tk 2 lakh, in 2024 his income was shown as Tk 1 crore 76 lakh 57 thousand 200.

Falsifications in affidavits, concealment of information on many assets: Analyzing the data of three affidavits found many falsifications. In the affidavit of 2008, Nanak showed the ownership of 2 acres and 65 percent of agricultural and non-agricultural land. At that time, however, he did not show ownership of any establishment except an apartment. It is mentioned that Lalmonirhat has 10 percent ownership in Burimari and 3 katha plots in Uttara. Apart from this, he gave information in the affidavit that he owns a quarter of 10 acres of land in joint ownership. He said that he bought the first two lands. He did not give any information about the location of the jointly owned land or who owns it other than him. Nanak's description of wealth in 2024 has nothing to do with the affidavit of 2008. In the description of 24, he gave the information of having 6-storey house in Uttara of the capital, 8-storey house in Mohammadpur, land in Cox's Bazar, two houses in birthplace Barisal, land property in different areas of Barisal and fish farm of 2 acres 22% of land. Nanak wrote in the affidavit that it was all in his own name and most of it was ancestral property. At the same time, squeeze the information of the jointly owned land. Nanak was also confused about the pricing of two 8th and 6th floor houses in Dhaka's Mohammadpur and Uttara. The price of the 6-storey building in Uttara is shown as 4 crore 42 lakh 12 thousand 147 taka. 44 lakh 32 thousand 403 taka is shown for the 8 floor building in Mohammadpur. Since these two buildings were not mentioned in the affidavit filed in 2014, it can be assumed that they were built later. As such, allegations of manipulation have been raised against this influential leader in the question of showing the value of ownership of these lands and construction of buildings. Similarly, questions have been raised about the assets owned by him in Barisal and other places.

Apart from this, Nanak is also accused of keeping the information of many assets secret. The Nanak family has huge land holdings and palace duplexes in Navagram Road area of ​​Barisal. Which is not mentioned in his income tax return. Ownership information of 10 acres of land adjacent to Doarika bridge in Babuganj area of ​​Dhaka-Barisal highway has also been concealed. The Nanak family owns a private university called Global Village in Barisal. Apart from this, Nanak and his wife have been accused of concealing information about having plot-flats and land in Barisal and Dhaka along with huge land in Kuakata beach and tourist center Cox's Bazar.
