According to Jengo information, it is possible to know various information including the configuration of the phone or computer by exploiting the error in the multi-device setup of WhatsApp. As a result, cybercriminals can easily launch malware attacks. Although informed about this error, no action has been taken by Meta to fix it yet.

It is known that WhatsApp creates different message IDs for using the same WhatsApp account on multiple laptops and computers as well as phones. Each platform has a different ID format and the number of them is smaller or larger depending on the operating system. Due to errors in multi-device setup, it is possible to easily carry out cyber attacks by analyzing the information of the message ID and knowing various information including the operating system used in the devices.
Berry, co-founder of Django, said that while this security flaw is not a major concern, skilled cybercriminals can exploit the opportunity. As a result, this error can be called serious if not terrible.
