This information was informed in a press release sent from the Bangladesh Embassy in Lebanon on Saturday (October 19) It is said that 54 Bangladeshi expatriates will leave for Jeddah in Saudi Arabia from Rafiq Hariri International Airport in Beirut at 10:50 PM local time on Sunday (October 20). They will be in Jeddah at 1:20 p.m. tomorrow. From there, it will leave for Dhaka at 8:20 am on Monday and reach Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 6 pm.


The notification also said that expatriates can return to the country by paying half of the visa processing fee. For this, they have to pay the equivalent of 55 dollars to the General Security Office. In addition, the Lebanese government waived fines for illegal immigrants.


In this regard, the foreign adviser. Tauhid Hossain said that the number of Bangladeshis staying in Lebanon is about 70 thousand to 1 lakh. About 1,800 of them have registered to return to the country. Among those who have registered, 167 people have legal documents, the remaining 1,623 people are undocumented. IOM is working to bring back 200 people on chartered flights. For others, the government is arranging flights, about 50 people can come every day. It is expected that 58 people will come to Dhaka in the second phase on October 22.


Incidentally, expatriate Bangladeshis are in fear of Israel's sudden attack on Lebanon. Many have taken refuge in shelters or safe places. The government has taken initiative to bring back these expatriates. As part of this, 54 Bangladeshis are returning in the first phase.
