Repatriation efforts are being coordinated in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to ensure the safe return of Bangladeshis affected by the ongoing conflict in Lebanon . Last Monday, IOM Bangladesh said that in view of the escalation of the conflict in Lebanon, IOM-UN Migration is cooperating with the government for the safe return of Bangladeshi citizens from Lebanon with the help of the European Union and providing them with immediate medical assistance upon arrival in the country.
Earlier on Monday (October 21), the first group of 54 Bangladeshi nationals stranded in Lebanon returned to the country.
Foreign Affairs Adviser. Tauhid Hossain then told the media that the government has started the repatriation of registered Bangladeshi citizens from Lebanon. He noted that a limited number of expatriates were initially being turned back due to insufficient seats on flights outbound from Beirut.
He also said, in view of capacity constraints, we are exploring the option of sending a large contingent to Turkey by sea. From there they can return to Bangladesh by plane.
