Sports Desk: Sri Lanka won the three-match ODI series with one match in hand. They sealed the series win by defeating West Indies by 5 wickets in a rain-hit second ODI at Pallekele today, Wednesday (October 23).

West Indies went to bat first in the match which came down to 44 overs. They were all out for 189 in 36 overs. In reply Sri Lanka scored 190 runs in 38.2 overs losing 5 wickets. Captain Charith Asalanka left the field with an unbeaten innings of 62 runs with 7 fours and 1 six. Apart from him, opening batsmen Nishan Madushank and Sadira Samarawickrama scored 38 runs with 6 fours each. 24 runs came from the bat of Janith Lianag.
Alzari Joseph of Windies took 2 wickets with the ball for 30 runs.
Before that, the West Indies innings had a procession of coming and going. Among them Sherfan Rutherford and Gudakesh Moti were exceptions. Scherfen scored 80 runs with 7 fours and 4 sixes. And Moti scored 50 runs in 6 sixes. Besides, Brandon King scored 16 runs. None of the rest could touch the double-digit quota.
Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka took 4 wickets with 40 runs in 8 overs with the ball in hand. Mahish Thikshana took 3 wickets with 25 runs including 1 maiden in 9 overs and Asitha Fernando took 3 wickets with 35 runs in 7 overs.
