Jumbangla Desk: Maulana Mamunul Haque, Joint Secretary General of Custody and Secretary General of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, has been acquitted in the case of rape filed in Narayanganj's Sonargaon police station. Judge Jasmine Ara Begum of the Women and Child Abuse Special Tribunal announced the verdict in the presence of Maulana Mamunul Haque on Thursday morning.

Reacting to the verdict, Mamunul Haque said, 'I and my family were victims of conspiracies and torture by the dictatorial fascist Awami League government. A case was filed for character assassination by taking my family hostage and threatening to kill them. That case has been proven false.'
Advocate Omar Farooq Nayan, the plaintiff's lawyer, said, "The second wife of the plaintiff, Jannat Ara Jharna, told the court that she married Mamunul Haque according to Islamic Shariat by reading the Kalema." She is the legal wife of Mamunul Haque. Out of 40 witnesses, 26 testified in the case. According to the testimony of all the witnesses, Mamunul Haque was not proved guilty.

It is to be noted that on April 3, 2021, Mamunul Haque was arrested at the Royal Resort of Sonargaon, Narayanganj. On April 30 of that year, a rape case was filed against Maulana Mamunul Haque at the police station.
