Delayed bone grafting is a particular problem. Countless patients break bones every day; With proper treatment, it heals within a few days. However, post-fracture complications can occur. Many times, due to these problems for a long time, joints become stiff and muscles dry, infection may also occur. In many patients post-fracture union may be delayed due to other medical conditions.

The success of fusion depends largely on the severity, location and physical condition of the fracture. If the union does not occur after four to six months, it is called a delayed union. And if there is no union after 9 to 12 months, it can be termed as non-union or non-union problem.
Certain diseases and risk conditions can cause delayed mating, such as:
● Elderly patients, who already have brittle bones or osteoporosis.
● Those with long-term diabetes.
● Malnutrition, smoking, certain metabolic diseases, use of excessive non-steroidal anti-inflammatory or analgesic drugs and steroids, presence of open fracture or multiple fractures.
● A fracture union requires good blood supply. So if the blood supply is disturbed due to any reason, bone union is delayed.
● Infection is also a major cause of nonunion.
In case of bone fracture, if it is not fixed after the prescribed time due to various reasons, doctors perform surgery along with the necessary medicines. In many cases, despite all efforts, the bones do not fully fuse. In that case electro therapy along with physiotherapy treatment of the patients is very beneficial.
Currently, it is said that the application of micro current or special levels of electrical stimulation can speed up the healing of bone joints in many cases. However, this treatment method should be applied only when conventional treatment methods fail.
