Jumbangla Desk: An allegation has been found against a Chhatra Dal leader named Saiful Alam of beating and injuring an autovan driver named Sujan Matubbar (30) in Saltha of Faridpur. The injured Sujan is admitted to the hospital.
Sujan's family confirmed the matter on Friday (October 25) evening. Earlier on Thursday (October 24) afternoon, the attack took place in Saltha market.
The injured Sujan Matubbar is the son of Idris Matubbar of Khalishadubi village in Ramkantupur union of upazila. The accused attacker Saiful Alam is also a resident of Khalishadubi village and joint editor of Faridpur District Chhatra Dal.
Sujan's family said that there was a dispute with Chhatra Dal leader Saiful Alam's family over their family's land. Earlier, there was a fight between the two families over that problem. However, after the fall of the Awami League government, Chhatra Dal leader Saiful became desperate to take revenge. He kept looking for an opportunity to attack Sujan's family.
On Thursday (October 24) at around 11 pm, Sujan came to Saltha market with a van. Meanwhile, Chhatra Dal leader Saiful and his brother Naeem Matubbar along with 3-4 people caught him inside a garden and beat him with hammer. Later, the locals rescued him and admitted him to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
When asked, Saiful Alam, Joint General Secretary of the accused Faridpur District Chhatra Dal, said, 'My nephew is involved in Sujan's relationship. He hit me with a stick twice in 2014. At that time, my father broke his arm when he tried to stop him. A year and a half ago, I was hit on the head with a stick. So my younger brother slapped him but did not hammer him.'
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Saltha police station Ataur Rahman said that the matter is not known. If the victim files a written complaint , legal action will be taken.
