Jumbangla Desk: Disagreement has been seen among the country's political parties on the issue of President Md Sahabuddin's removal. Some are saying the president should resign while others are saying not now. In such a situation, BNP had differences with the student coordinators who led the mass uprising.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party

BNP claims that the constitutional vacuum will be created, therefore, the removal of the President is not immediate. However, leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement are adamant about removing the president. They also said that if anyone in the political party opposes the removal of the President, a consensus will be created by excluding him. However, BNP does not want to get involved in a dispute with student coordinators. They want to be strategic about the issue.

The responsible leaders of BNP say that their party position is clear, they do not want any new complications regarding the removal or resignation of the President. As a political party they are part of the state. Based on their views, the President has to logically resolve the issue. It is not right to take any decision here suddenly after seeing the street protests. It will have the opposite effect.

They also said that BNP will not take any stand against the opinion of students. They feel that the situation can become more muddled if they make a formal statement against the students. BNP will insist on constitutional position on the issue of President. They will monitor the students. However, the team will not go face to face.

BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed said the issue of the President is very sensitive. We have first explained it constitutionally. They know very well what the students said. BNP is in the same position as before.

BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Imran Saleh Prince said the students expressed their views. But they also need to understand that now is a very sensitive time. Foreign conspiracies can be suppressed if a constitutional vacuum is created after the departure of the President. We should not do anything that will hinder our main goal.

He said, BNP has explained why it does not want the removal of the President at this time. At this time, the resignation of the President may create a constitutional vacuum. will create new debates. Fallen fascists can take advantage of this. A fascist uprising will not be given a chance.

According to him, now the priority should be to reduce the price of daily necessities, to get on the electoral road through the roadmap.

Meanwhile, BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said after the meeting with the Chief Adviser in Yamuna on Wednesday morning that everyone should take care that no new constitutional or political crisis is created in the country. If someone wants to do that, we will all deal with it.

Salahuddin Ahmed, another leader of the standing committee who participated in the meeting, later told reporters in Gulshan that the post of president is a constitutional post or an institution, the highest constitutional post. If there is a vacancy in this position through sudden resignation, constitutional vacuum will be created, state crisis will be created.

Chhatra Dal will no longer do showdown politics: President

Referring to this position of BNP, the convener of anti-discrimination student movement, Hasnat Abdullah, said on Wednesday night that after discussion with the chief adviser, various political parties want to sustain the president for the sake of the constitution. Our appeal to the countrymen is that if any political party does not come to the movement to remove the fascist regime quietly, then they should abandon them and unite together.
