Science and Technology Desk: There is going to be an opportunity to extend the period of unused SIM with money. It is reported that Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has decided recently in this regard. The new rules are coming into effect soon.

Science and Technology Desk: There is going to be an opportunity to extend the period of unused SIM with money. It is reported that Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has decided recently in this regard. The new rules are coming into effect soon.

 

As per earlier rules, SIM recycling time was 480 days. Then that SIM becomes inactive. If someone wants to keep the SIM in his own name even after the expiry, it can be kept active for a fixed fee. Fee fixed at Rs.300 for 2 years period. Taxes will also be added to this.


Fee for 3 years term is Rs.475 plus taxes. However, mobile operators cannot offer any kind of data and voice call offers to extend this period.

Meanwhile, BTRC is simultaneously reducing the validity of unused SIMs. Now recycling time (resale of unused SIM) is 11 months. A notice period of one month is added to this.
