However, after August 5, the administration did not implement the request for exemption from service after the suggestion of the then BUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Satya Prasad Majumder. As a result, Professor Jahangir alleged that he was harassed by the BUET authorities for 9 years but did not get any remedy.
However, there is no truth to the complaint claimed by the professor of civil engineering department. Abdul Jabbar. He said, I was not a person of the administration at that time, so I am not the person to ask him to leave the house or to ask him to resign from his job. And if I am not someone in the administration, how can I give these decisions? These are baseless allegations.
Prof. Jahangir Alam said that even though he was forced to leave his job without regard to any rules and was subjected to assault-cases, he did not even have the slightest protest or two words. Besides, this professor also alleged that at that time he did not have the courage to take legal action and did not get any kind of help from BUET.
On August 9, Professor Jahangir applied to the former Vice-Chancellor Satya Prasad Majumdar to withdraw his application for exemption from service. After that, when the vice-chancellor resigned, he applied again to the newly appointed vice-chancellor on September 22. However, his matter was supposed to be passed through the syndicate, but it has not been passed yet. 2 cases are still pending against him. Besides, the university administration has not even initiated the process to reinstate him.

Professor Jahangir made several demands in the written application. They are-
1. Canceling his resignation and all subsequent office orders relating thereto
2. Revoking the Syndicate's decision to bar him from academic activities
3. To give all the increments due to him during the last 10 years and adjust the salary
4. An inquiry committee should be made to take all possible measures according to the law of the university to those involved in all these unfair and discriminatory behavior in the last 10 years.
According to the sources, on April 11, 2015, a person named Dipu Sarkar shared an online news item titled 'Kamaruzzaman's execution' in a Facebook group called 'Buyte Adi Patan Shona'. There, a person named Chandra Nath first wrote 'Joy Bangla' and commented. Below this, Jahangir Alam commented at 11:46 PM 'Jai Maa Kali, Jai India' and later corrected it by writing 'Jai India, Jai Muscle Power, Jai Politics'.
When others on Facebook asked for an explanation of this statement, Jahangir Alam wrote at various times, 'Joy Bangla represents only one party', 'Say Joy Bangladesh. It is apolitical. Jai Bengal represents two countries.' At the end he made a comment, 'Corrected : Joy India, Joy Muscle Power, Joy Nasty Politics, Joy Injustice (Corrected: India, Muscle Power, Nasty Politics and Victory of Injustice)'.
The then BUET Chhatra League president Subhrajyoti Tikadar and secretary Abu Saeed Kanak denied the beating but admitted that there was an argument in the teacher's room. Besides, Siam Hossain, the accused in the attack on him, admitted to 'sweetening' Professor Jahangir in a Facebook comment.
At that time, the teacher's association issued a statement on behalf of this teacher and announced the boycott of classes from 13 to 19 July. Later, an inquiry committee was formed to try the criminals. Then the administration also punished them for different periods. But after that Central Chhatra League put pressure on the administration with a showdown in the entire campus, they did not show any interest in the progress of the case. Later, the studentship of the accused students was upheld in view of the application to the BCL High Court.
Professor Jahangir said, on April 12, 2015, a group of students led by the general secretary of the then Chhatra League of BUET harassed, raised hands and insulted me using a Facebook comment as an excuse. Later, Professor of Civil Engineering Department of Buet. At the instigation of Abdul Jabbar Khan, a student of BUET named Siam Hossain filed a sedition case against me.
A month after the incident, at the instigation and direct support of Professor Abdul Jabbar Khan, Dhaka University. A student named Faiz Ullah filed a case against me under the Digital Security Act. Both the cases against me are still pending.
Professor Abdul Jabbar forcibly removed him from the consultancy of the department, he said, in the meeting of the syndicate, a decision was taken to temporarily stop me from all academic activities of the university. After this decision, Professor of Civil Engineering Department. Abdul Jabbar Khan's unwritten order also excluded me from the consultancy work of the department. Due to which, I suffered a lot financially.
He said, when the teachers and students protested against the attack on me, the attackers were expelled from the university, but they got back their studentship by writing to the High Court and suspending the expulsion given by the BUET administration, but the case against me was not resolved. I have been harassed for a long time and the cases are still there. BUET authorities did not appeal against those students and did not take any initiative to handle the case properly. Not only that, the Buet authorities have done nefarious things like removing and destroying evidence and evidence of the incident. Later, the High Court ruled that the expulsion of the students was completely annulled.
Pointing out that I applied numerous times to return to academic activities but got no results, he said, "In the past 9 years, I have applied to the BUET authorities several times to resume my academic activities. But, no action was taken. In 2020, it was decided to take the matter to the syndicate, but the then vice-chancellor Abdul Jabbar canceled it.
In 2020 Dr. When Abdul Jabbar Khan became the Pro-Vice Chancellor, various people pressured me to quit my job and asked me to vacate my campus residence under the threat of legal action. As a result, I rent an off-campus house and leave the campus house. However, the then Pro-Vice Chancellor continued to pressure me to quit. In the face of intimidation and pressure, I applied for severance in 2022.
When asked how he threatened Prof. Jabbar without being in office, he said, he was not in any office in 2015, but controlled the Chhatra League, later after becoming vice chancellor in 2020, his nefarious activities increased manifold. The torture of countless students and the 2019 killing of Shaheed Abrar Fahad all happened with his direct and indirect support. He was the mastermind of all this. But he never came forward.
He said, with my resignation application, my salary was stopped without any office order. At the end of 2023, when there was a rumor of a change in the government, suddenly my application was accepted and I was ordered to pay the BUET dues, but no decision was taken regarding my pension and other benefits. As per the letter dated 20th March 2024 to avoid penalty, the total dues of the University are coordinated with the GPF Fund and the remaining dues are deposited in the 'Home Loan Fund'.
The professor of civil engineering department denied the truth of the allegations. Abdul Jabbar said, these allegations have no truth. Only the administration has the power to exempt someone from academic activities. And I was not in any administrative responsibility of BUET from 2012 to 2020. At that time I was in Bangladesh Public Service Commission.
However, BUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. said that the syndicate is working to take back Professor Jahangir. Abu Borhan Mohammad Badruzzaman. He said, I have spoken with Professor Jahangir. If he has been wronged, we certainly want him to get justice. He gave us a letter giving the details which is now in the syndicate. It has also been discussed in the syndicate. Action will now be taken as per university rules.
