Jumbangla Desk: The police have arrested four people including the victim's son in connection with the murder of an old man named Nibu Mia (65) in Bajitpur of Kishoreganj. Superintendent of Police of Kishoreganj Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury gave this information in a press conference on Saturday (October 26) morning.
The arrested are Nibu Mia's son Sohail Mia (24), his three friends electrician Babul Mia (32), butcher Nazrul Islam (45) and mason Suman Mia (26).
Superintendent of Police Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury said that on October 20 at noon, the police recovered a body with its hands and feet tied and its throat cut from a paddy field in Sultanpur area of Pirijpur Union of Bajitpur. On the same day, Abdur Rahman, the son of the deceased, filed a murder case at Bajitpur police station.
After the case, a police team arrested Babul Mia, the accused directly involved in the murder, from Abdul Hai's hotel in Dakshin Pirijpur Bazar area of Bajitpur Upazila on the basis of technical and confidential information. The arrested accused confessed that they killed Nibu Mia for the 70,000 taka he was with.
According to the information given by him, three others including Nibu Mia's younger son Sohail Mia were arrested in connection with the murder. After his arrest, Sohail admitted to the police that he was involved in the murder of his father by slitting his throat. During the killing, he held his father's head with a rice paddy.
Superintendent of Police said, a year ago, Nibu Mia sold land for 21 lakh taka. From that money, Sohail sent Mia abroad with six lakh rupees. But Sohail got married after six months from abroad. He bought an old auto-rickshaw with a loan from an NGO to run the family. But Sohail pressured his father to give him the remaining money from the land sale. Trouble arose between them over this money. On the day of the incident, Sohail came to know that his father had some money. He killed his father by slitting his throat with his friends to get the money from his father.
