Jumbangla Desk: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has upheld the six-month bail granted by the High Court to building owner Sohail Rana in the case brought by the police in connection with the Rana Plaza collapse in Savar in which thousands of people died and many more were injured.

The Appellate Division has ordered the High Court to suspend the bail granted to Sohail Rana and dispose of the ruling issued on the bail question within two months.

The senior judge of the Supreme Court on Monday (October 28) at the request of the state party. The Appellate Bench headed by Ashfaqul Islam gave this order.

Lawyer Mohammad Shishir Monir heard on behalf of Sohail Rana in the court. Additional Attorney General Mohammad Arshadur Rauf and Barrister Aneek R Haque were on the side of the state.


Earlier on October 2, the High Court granted bail to Sohail Rana for six months. Along with this rule is also issued. The state applied to the Appellate Division seeking suspension of this order.

Incidentally, on April 24, 2013, the terrible incident of Rana Plaza collapse took place. 1 thousand 135 workers were killed in that incident. 1 thousand 169 people were seriously injured and paralyzed.

RAB arrested building owner Sohel Rana from Benapole on April 29 of the same year while fleeing to India. Since then he is in jail in a case filed in the incident.
