Locals complain that two ASIs have gone missing during a clash with fishermen while looting hilsa fish. On the other hand, the police claimed that they disappeared in a collision between two boats while executing the arrest warrant.


The incident took place in Srikhol area of ​​Shilaidah Union of the upazila on Monday morning. Four people were injured. Two of them were reportedly UP members.

The two missing ASIs are Sadrul Hasan (40) and Mukul Hossain (40). They are working at Kumarkhali police station.


The injured are - SI of Kumarkhali police station. Nazrul Islam, member of ward number 5 of Kaya Union Parishad. Chalim and Ward No. 6 member Anwar Hossain Titon. Among them, SI Nazrul is under treatment at Upazila Health Complex and is at home, the doctor said. Two more UP members are in hiding.


Local fishermen said that some fishermen were fishing in the river in violation of the ban. Late at night, two UP members and 6 policemen went down to the Padma River fenced Kalwa area and looted hilsa fish from some fishermen and went to the bank of the river. Later miscreants attacked the police and UP members in Shreekhol area of ​​Shilaidah. On getting the news, the locals came and rescued 4 policemen and two members including SI Nazrul. However, the two ASIs could not be found.


On Monday morning, I went to Ber Kalwa intersection and talked to the fishermen. At that time, Ezahar Sheikh said, I was catching hilsa in Padma at night. At that time 6 policemen including Chalim and Teton members came and took away the fish I had. They allow fishing again while going.


However, Yarul Islam, the leader of the fishermen of Ber Kalwa area, rescued the injured police after receiving information at night. He said that the fishermen first called him around three o'clock in the night and told him that there was trouble in the river. Chalim and Teton members and the police came and looted the fish and oil from the fishermen. Even after hearing that news, he fell asleep. Later, around 5 am, ASI Sabdul told me on the phone, brother, we are in danger, help me. Then four people went in a boat and rescued 3 policemen and two members including SI Nazrul. Meanwhile, SI Nazrul's head was cracked.


Yarul Islam said, the police were all in plain clothes. They were returning after looting fish, oil and money from the fishermen. Meanwhile, some fishermen attacked as robbers. As a result, they were injured.

When UP member Anwar Hossain Titon was called to inquire about this, he did not receive.


However, the OC of Kumarkhali police station denied the allegations of robbery. Nazrul Islam said that two ASIs went missing in a collision between two boats while executing the arrest warrant. The remaining 4 policemen swam to the shore. Details will be given later.
