Jumbangla Desk: The court ordered to take legal action against nine people including former Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Superintendent of Police Molla Nazrul Islam for killing Shafinur Islam Shafin in RAB custody (crossfire) in 2016 in Joypurhat.

Earlier, Nazrul Islam of Chakmohan village of Sadar Upazila of Joypurhat, the father of Shafinur Islam Shafin, who was killed in the crossfire, filed a complaint against 25 people in the court on Sunday (October 27) accusing him of killing Shafinur Islam Shafin.
Apart from former Director General of RAB Benazir Ahmed and Superintendent of Police Mullah Nazrul Islam, the other accused are Major Hasan Arafat of Jaipurhat RAB camp, DAD Mohd Feroz Ali Khan, SI Enamul Haque, DAD Mahfuzar Rahman, SI Debashish Nandi of Sadar police station, Naik Habibur Rahman of RAB and Constable Mehdi Hasan.
According to the source of the complaint, Shafinur Islam Shafin was arrested by members of the then RAB Joypurhat camp from Uttara, Dhaka at around 9 pm on September 26, 2016. A month after that, on October 25 of that year at around 9:30 pm, he was shot dead in the abandoned chatal of Helal in Dadra Jandigram, Sadar Upazila of Joypurhat.
Advocate Mahfuzur Rahman Helal, the lawyer of the plaintiff, told reporters that a complaint has been filed against 25 people. The court took cognizance of the complaint against the first 9 persons and ordered the Superintendent of Police to take legal action and to inform the court within 24 hours.
In this regard, Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdul Wahab said on the mobile phone that legal action is being taken as per the order of the court.
